Taking One for the Team

It was great to join the CNN Thrashers for softball yesterday with
James and Aruna. The other team didn't show up so we technically
"won" the game. Eager to play, we broke into teams and played a scrimmage,
which was a blast. However, in a rare squeeze play
at home, catcher Kevin T caught a screaming ball directly over the eye.
He took it like a man but we called the EMTs just to be on the
safe side.

Afterwards we walked over to the Windsor Castle for beers, where Jen joined us.

M83 at KOKO

View of the French electronica band M83 from the balcony at KOKO, a very ornate theater in Mornington Crescent area. On the whole, we were impressed with the band and felt they were better than their recording suggested. Drummer was particularly energetic.

My Old Flat

Seems they dd some refurbishing since I left - figures.

Dumpster Divers

On Sunday after hanging out on Primrose Hill for most of the day, we accidentally
threw our corkscrew away with the trash. We had just paid about $10 for it, which was too much to just "write off". So, without hesitation, Aruna jumped up on the dumpster and reached
down for it. After several efforts and much grunting, it became obvious that she didn't
have the reach for it - at which point she pressed James into service. Corkscrew and picnickers reunited!

Picnic on Primrose Hill

Monsters of Brockley

Was good to hang out with old friends... Chad in particular gave the evening a breezy Canadian vibe! Nice Z6P gang sign James!

4th of July Party on Kensington Rooftop

Lady Sharms knockin' back a true American staple....

Above we see Jessica decked out in full Coke/Bud regalia, with the classic stars and stripes cupcake!

Atlanta pig roaster John Malone (pictured above) threw a great party on the roof deck in swanky South Kensington.

American Cupcakes I

These are my first American Cupcakes which I made from my new vegan cupcake cookbook bought in the US. I brought them into work on Monday to make my return more memorable to my colleagues who had already forgotten me during the long time I had been away. For the future I plan to get a little bit more adventurous with the cupcake icing. I will try another variety when John, Jen and James are coming over. I am already very excited!

Country In The Green Note

Constanze and I went to the green note in Camden (http://www.greennote.co.uk/) a bar which serves vegetarian food and has live music. We watched a very English country band from Leeds which felt slightly weired to me.

Primrose Hill

On my second weekend my friend Constanze visited me from Germany. We went around town and spend nice afternoon on Primrose Hill from where you can see most of London. The weather has been alright since my return, it was mostly sunny with a light breeze but as soon as the evening comes you have to wear a jacket. Good that I have my new American jeans jacket which is equally good for Atlanta spring as for London summer and can always be worn as a Canadian tuxedo.

Kentish Town At Blue Hour

I have been missing ATL a lot since I am back but there are also some nice things in London which I enjoy doing. Among them is walking up Kentish Town High Street to my local organic shop Earth Natural or to one of the pubs at "Blue Hour" like you say in German, the twilight hour.

Back In The London Office

One of the nice things about being back in the London office is that I am back with my lovely office buddy James. We share an office which is not always easy because we are both annoyingly noisy and extroverted but we have so much fun in the tiny breaks between working tremendously hard. I took this photo when I had arrived in the office straigt from the airport Monday morning.

Vegan Cookout for Sharms' Leaving Do

This photo is now in my office to remind me of the great time I had in Atlanta. It has been such an interesting and impressive stay and I am still thinking about it a lot. Everyone has been so nice and I have felt truely at home. Vielen Dank fuer alles! Especially to John and Jen who did not only organise the party but also were my 24/7 ATL support line - how could I have done without you!

Last Bike Ride

John and I had to take this photo as one of the last Atlanta pictures...it started with this bicycle and I used it right until the last hours of my stay when I tried to cycle to Little5Points with James. After showing a reasonable performance during the last Z6P outings (with a couple of exceptions) he managed to mishandle his bike and punctured his tyre within the first 50 meters of our ride. So we had to go to the bike shop right away to change the tire.
