Leaving My Bike (For A While)
My bike needs to be put in a box for shipping and I had to leave it at the bikeshop today to be able to pick it up on Thursday. Not only will I be without it for my last days here in ATL but it was also a very obvious sign for me that I am leaving and going back to L, which made me sad.
In the meantime I am using Hutch's cool oldschool bike. Time to get used to going uphill without gears again ...

CJ Record Release In The Earl
East Atlanta by night.
Cadillac Jones (www.cadillacjones.com) performing on their cd release party. My favorite song of the new album is Reynoldstown which covers Hutch's and Jen's neighbour who has lived in Reynoldstown all his life and is telling about his life in the neighbourhood. After having reflected about it for some time, I think that Reynoldstown is my favorite part of town and I would pick it as my place of residence if I would settle anywhere in Atlanta.

Fourth Meeting Zone6Pedallers
I am happy after a successful Z6P night.
Last stop before going home: I escorted James back to the practice space (where Cadillac Jones and Jupiter Watts share their practice room) where his car was, to make sure he was getting home alright. My bicycle is waiting for me to ride home.
In great spirit we are showing our new Z6P sign after an inspection of a famous Atlanta institution.
John is leading the back to the 4th ward and counting if we have lost noone on the road (to prevent any further misadventures).
Our 4th Z6P meeting was a full success! After assembling at Estoria we cycled to Corner Tavern on Edgewood and then through downtown to Castleberry Hill to Elliot Street Pub. I stayed back a little bit to wait for James and we lost the others only to make a huge detour following James directions. After all this riding I got so dehydrated that I ordered a water and a juice together. I pulled all my energy together to pose for this team photo with Kevin and Hutch.

Playing Therimin at Moog Soundroom
Asheville is the home of the moog factory (http://www.moogmusic.com/history.php?cat_id=4) which was founded by Robert Moog and has contributed many legendary electronic musical instruments to pop music. Moog Music is situated on a factory floor in Asheville. Hutch organised a little tour for us and everyone at moog was really friendly and welcoming. It was good to see that moog is a doing business and surviving with a local production.
One of the moog synthesisers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moog_synthesizer), which is produced in the manufacture in Asheville.
I test a Therimin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theremin) at the Moog Soundroom where you can test all their instruments. The Therimin is a wooden box with two metal antennas. While moving the hands near those antennas (without touching) the Therimin is producing weired spherical electronic sounds.
Lake Lure
Cadillac Jones went on the road to Asheville, North Carolina to play on a festival and took Robert and me on board of the tour bus. We stayed over night in a lovely house with a view on Lake Lure. I could not believe it when I heard that one of my favorite films of all times Dirty Dancing was filmed at Lake Lure. Who would have thought that one day I would stay in such a famous setting.

Graduation Party
Jen's Birthday
Die Strassen Von San Francisco (ATL)
Holiday On Wednesday
At the end of a eventful day John and Adrian decided to go to Anne's snack bar where you can allegedly get the best burgers in ATL. It is a very traditional place with firm and slightly bizarre rules (http://atlanta.citysearch.com/profile/11469935#profileTab-reviews) and you can regard yourself to be successful if you are not getting kicked out. However I had to wait outside for almost two hours (there are only eight seats) while the two young gentleman dined inside. To document my situation for further reference I made this self portrait with A&J in the background happily munching away. (To be fair I also have to mention that they apologised afterwards and gave me a vegan t-shirt as a present.)
John and Adrian having a good time having breakfast in the Stone Soup Kitchen (http://www.stonesoupkitchen.net/). I could not take part in their silly attics as I was busy wolfing down my blueberry pancakes.
John and I took Wednesday off in order to keep Adrian some company. We visited the Martin Luther King Memorial Site (http://www.nps.gov/malu/) and spend an interesting time in the museum where we also watched a film about MLK's life. I found this even more impressive after living very close to "Sweet Auburn" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Auburn) the historic area where MLK grew up.
Mate In East Atlanta
On the cycling tour, Christian and I cycled over to Pepe's house in East Atlanta. I have been drinking mate tea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yerba_mat%C3%A9) before but never in the proper Argentinian way where "drinking mate together with friends is a common social practice". I did my best to comply with the conventions however it was somehow challenging (which explains the focused look on my face).
Weather Condition
Another weather condition. Atlanta has had a draught during the last years so it is great that it is raining that much. However nature seems not to be adjusted to so much water anymore so trees keep just falling over. When going on a little cycling tour with Christian we literally had to carry our bikes over this tree.

John, my colleague Astrid and I went to Mi Barrio for lunch and then took a little walk over Oakland cemetery in beautiful weather.

Bowling Mullet
The order of these photos is a little bit all over the place. This snapshot shows certain characters at the bowling hall where we celebrated Jen's birthday on Sunday.

Charlie's Tradin' Post
Charlie's trading post is a bizarre place opposite of the Atlanta prison. In the warehouse you can find all kinds of fishing accessories, jeans from the 50ies and many other stuff - including those two lovely ladies who wanted to join us for a photo.
Ebenezer Baptist Church
Adrian has been in town and we visited the Martin Luther King historic site including the old Ebenezer Church where MLK and his father were preaching.
Seventh Inning Stretch
I watched my first baseball game ever and liked it! It is very comfortable to being served at the seat (especially with salted peanuts) and there is enough time to have an extensive chat with everyone around. After the game I got some Baseball sweat bands (which are much needed in this climate). Good for me that the Braves logo is an "A"...
